The Gateway
The Gateway is a recovery community center providing ongoing support to people transitioning from addiction treatment back into the community.
The Gateway provides support groups, art and music therapy, recovery coaching and additional community resources — in a previously derelict property along Fifth Avenue in downtown Knoxville. The budget-conscious design gave the exterior a facelift while restoring the interiors to full use. Murals and a clean and vibrant color palette build a sense of positivity and restoration, while building materials were chosen for their durability and easy maintenance, as well as aesthetic. A coffee shop is open to the community, while meeting and therapeutic spaces are reserved for clients.
