Whether one of our legacy designs or a more recent project, Barber McMurry projects have defined East Tennessee for a century. You may live in the JFG Building, attend Church Street United Methodist, or be a Fulton High grad. You may have visited a doctor at Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital or cheered on the Smokies at Covenant Health Park.

Named the 2025 Ballpark of the Year, Covenant Health Park is home to the AA Tennessee Smokies and One Knoxville SC. The stadium is enveloped by mixed-use and residential development that creates meaningful pedestrian connections as well as visual continuity between the Old City and East Knoxville.

A 360-degree concourse is possible thanks to a pedestrian bridge crossing First Creek. The design utilizes exposed cross-laminated timber in its roofing system, spanning 36,500 square feet — and saving 434 metric tons of carbon dioxide in what would otherwise have required steel construction.
